Security deposits

Manage the deposit as a hold with its own timing, amount and expiry. Requesting, releasing and capturing have different consequences, so the stay’s deposit panel is the place to review the current state before acting.

Before you start

Check the property’s deposit settings, supported payment connection and your action permissions before requesting a hold.

  1. Open the reservation’s deposit panel and read the amount, timing and existing deposit state before requesting a new hold. An existing deposit should remain visible in the decision so the same stay is not treated as having no protection.

  2. Use Request deposit in the panel when its prerequisites are met. Eligible saved-card stays can use that card; other supported stays use the deposit-link flow, with their own prerequisites and result.

  3. Release a hold when it should end, or capture only an authorized, justified amount. If keeping the hold, check its reason and expiry instead of assuming the authorization lasts indefinitely.

Limits and prerequisites

A security hold is not a booking deposit or a completed payment. The card provider controls hold expiry.
