What it means
A combo is a sellable offer combining several physical units. This glossary uses “combo” for that arrangement; other systems may call it a virtual unit or combined listing. A reservation consumes every component for all booked nights.
Why it matters
It accommodates groups in separate spaces while connecting the sale to actual work. Cleaning, access and maintenance still happen in each apartment. The combo is available only when all its components are free and usable.
An example in practice
Combo A+B is booked for three nights. It consumes six physical unit-nights: three in A and three in B. That is one commercial reservation occupying two spaces. During those nights, A, B and any other combo sharing either component cannot be sold separately.
A mistake to avoid
Counting A, B and A+B as three available apartments inflates capacity and can cause overbooking. If revenue is allocated between components, define a consistent rule instead of assigning the full booking amount to each unit.
Put it into practice
- Store the exact component units for each combo.
- Test blocking in both directions and between overlapping combos.
- Prepare instructions and tasks for every component.
A common question
What if one unit needs maintenance?
Any combo containing that unit becomes unavailable for those dates, even when its other components are free. Review confirmed bookings and resolve the exception with the guest before changing what was promised.
