What it means
The Tarjeta de Registro de Alojamiento, TRA, is MinCIT’s registration mechanism for main guests and companions, both Colombian and foreign. The VUE describes its use for tourist accommodation establishments and tourist homes within the procedure’s scope.
Why it matters
The person making a reservation is not always the only person staying. Distinguishing booking, lead guest and companions helps record the actual stay consistently. The information also supports tourism statistics, so incomplete records affect more than an internal guest list.
An example in practice
A reservation is made in one person’s name, but three people arrive. Reception verifies the main guest and companions and completes the corresponding information. If actual dates change, the team reviews the record and update procedure rather than assuming the original booking describes the entire stay.
A mistake to avoid
Confusing a document copy or internal form with a completed record in the relevant system creates gaps. Evidence that information was captured is not necessarily evidence that the official process finished.
Put it into practice
- Connect the stay with the people who actually stayed.
- Check required fields and date consistency before submission.
- Keep the result and follow up on pending corrections.
A common question
Why are there both TRA and SIRE reports?
They serve different processes and authorities. The TRA guide and official sources explain the scope; the team should assess both obligations without assuming one submission automatically replaces the other.
