Practical guide / RNT

RNT: establish your operation, then keep it current.

The Registro Nacional de Turismo is an establishment-level responsibility. Know your registration, check its status and put renewal on the calendar.

Does this apply to me?

MinCIT identifies RNT registration as a prerequisite for providing tourism services. Tourist housing is included; being listed on a booking platform does not replace the registration. Confirm the right category and establishment scope with your chamber. [1] [2]

RNT is one part of operating properly. It does not replace local land-use checks, applicable safety requirements or the authorization required by a property's horizontal-property regulations. Avoid signing a lease or launching a listing on the assumption that an RNT alone resolves those issues. [2]

Before you start

  • The operator's RUT and registration details, with consistent names, identification and address.
  • The correct tourism category and establishment information.
  • Access to the registered email and the RNT platform account.
  • Supporting information for the applicable declarations, including building rules when relevant. [2]

Step by step

  1. 01

    Check the property's operating conditions

Review the use of the property and building regulations with the competent authority or adviser. Do this before spending on a launch; a registration workflow is a poor time to discover a restriction.

  2. 02

    Check the operator's identity

Align the RUT, commercial-registration information where applicable and the person or entity operating the accommodation. Decide who is responsible for each establishment's registration.

  3. 03

    Create or recover platform access

Use the official RNT platform and your chamber's current guide. Confirm the registered email is monitored. Keep account recovery with the operator rather than a departing member of staff.

  4. 04

    Complete the correct application

Follow the current registration or renewal form for your category. Review the establishment address and declarations before submitting. Save a reference that lets you find the application again.

  5. 05

    Verify the result publicly

Check that the intended establishment has the correct status in the public RNT consultation. Keep the current certificate and verify the registration details shown on your listing and guest information.

  6. 06

    Schedule the next review

Assign renewal before the annual deadline and review changes to operator, establishment or activity as they happen. If the record is suspended, follow the reactivation process instead of assuming a new application fixes it.

Dates and reporting rhythm

The 2026 renewal window has already closed. MinCIT's 2026 notice confirmed 1 January to 31 March, with automatic suspension for non-renewal from 1 April. Check your current status now rather than waiting for next year's window. [1]

Dates and reporting rhythm
SituationWhat to do
Before providing tourism servicesComplete the applicable RNT registration first.
Normal annual renewalThe general window is 1 January to 31 March. Verify the next year's official notice and submit early enough to resolve problems.
Suspended for missing renewalUse the chamber's current reactivation guide. Check the required process and payment before resuming operation; ordinary renewal and reactivation are distinct. [3]

Common mistakes to avoid

Confusing RNT with RUT

RUT identifies tax responsibilities; RNT is the tourism registration. Keep both accurate.

Assuming last year's certificate is enough

Consult the live registration status and keep current evidence.

Leaving renewal until the last day

Recover access and resolve mismatched data well before the deadline.

Questions hosts ask

Is RNT renewal the same as renewing my commercial registration?

No. They are separate registrations and workflows. Check the applicable requirements for both with your chamber.

Can I renew now if I missed March 2026?

First check the current RNT status. If it was suspended for non-renewal, use the current reactivation instructions and confirm the result with the chamber. Do not keep operating on an old certificate.

Does one RNT automatically cover every apartment I manage?

Do not assume it does. Confirm registration scope, category and establishment details with the competent chamber before adding properties or reusing a number.
